Geoff: Potter & Author
My journey into ceramics began in September 2017 when I joined pottery classes at The Shed in Chelston, Torquay. Attending one afternoon each week, I was fortunate to learn under the guidance of Ben Benjamin, whose encouragement and expertise have been invaluable throughout my creative development.
It wasn’t long before I discovered a real passion for hand-building ceramics. Inspired by the natural world, I initially focused on creating marine and wildlife sculptures, including octopuses, crabs, geckos, chameleons, owls, turtles, and coral reefs. More recently, I have been working on a striking series of wall-mounted animal heads, continually exploring new ideas and techniques.
After a successful career in hotel management across the South West, I have embraced a new chapter as a ceramic artist, creating and exhibiting under the name Geoff Paris Pottery. Alongside my animal and marine-themed pieces, I also produce decorative vases, landscapes, and a growing range of unique ceramic artworks.
My latest and perhaps most exciting venture has been stepping into the world of publishing. Drawing on decades of experience in the hospitality industry, I have written my memoirs, sharing the memorable, amusing, and often unexpected stories that unfold behind the scenes of hotel life. The result is More Sauce Madam? (ISBN: 978-1-86151-975-7), a lively and entertaining account of life in hospitality, available through Mereo Books, Amazon, Kindle, and other major retailers.
